Specification

This specification covers poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) Schedule 40 pipe fittings made from four PVC plastic compounds and intended for use with Iron Pipe Size (IPS) outside-diameter plastic pipe.

Fittings fabricated by welding are not included in this specification. Included are requirements for materials, workmanship, dimensions, and burst pressure.

It has good tensile and compressive strength: but its flexibility is not as good as other plastic pipes.
Small fluid resistance: The pipe wall of PVC-U pipe is very smooth and has very little resistance to fluid. Its roughness coefficient is only 0.009. Its water transport capacity can be 20% higher than that of cast iron pipes of the same diameter and 40% higher than that of concrete pipes.
Excellent corrosion resistance and chemical resistance: PVC-U pipes have excellent acid resistance, alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, and are not affected by moisture and soil pH. No anti-corrosion treatment is required when laying pipes.
Good water tightness: PVC-U pipes have good water tightness regardless of whether they are connected by bonding or rubber rings.
Anti-gnawing: PVC-U pipe is not a nutrient source, so it will not be eroded by rodents. According to tests conducted by the American Sanitation Foundation in Michigan, rats will not chew PVCU pipes.
Performance test: curing time, shrinkage rate, splitting strength, tensile properties, peel strength, thermal stability, applicable period, release of harmful substances during storage period.

Joining CF Flanges

CF components are assembled by inserting a gasket between the two flange faces, then securing the assembly with bolts. Bolts should be tightened diagonally, versus sequentially around the circumference, for a secure vacuum seal. Assembly is cost-effective through the reuse of components and inch dimensional stubs, sockets, and tubes. The foolproof design provides leak-tight joints consistently.

A variety of sealing hardware is available, such as plate nuts, dodecagon (12 point head) bolts, Viton® seals, and individually wrapped copper and silver-plated copper gaskets protected from corrosion and mechanical damage.

Plate nuts furnish the fastest, most convenient method to close flanges, reduce required clearance, assemble with one wrench, and are especially good in limited accessibility. Assembly time reduces greatly because bolts are easier to start and tighten. The clearance needed is half that of regular nuts. They eliminate the need and cost for tapped flanges.
