Cryogenic Top-Entry Ball Valves: Manual vs Automatic Operation
Jul. 22, 2024
How to Operate Cryogenic Top-Entry Ball Valves?
Cryogenic top-entry ball valves are widely used in applications that require low-temperature performance. Two operating modes, manual and automatic, are available for this type of valve. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to operate cryogenic top-entry ball valves in manual and automatic modes.
Manual Operation.
1. Verify that the valve is in the closed position. You can tell the valve is closed if the handle or lever points perpendicular to the valve body.
2. Turn the valve handle or lever counterclockwise to open the valve.
3. Verify that the valve is fully open. You can tell the valve is fully open if the handle or lever points parallel to the valve body.
4. To close the valve, turn the handle or lever clockwise until it reaches the closed position.
Automatic Operation.
1. Connect the automatic actuator to the valve stem.
2. Connect the actuator control unit to the power source and the actuator.
3. Configure the actuator parameters, such as the opening and closing time, according to the application requirements.
4. Verify that the valve is in the closed position.
5. Start the actuator control unit and initiate the opening command.
6. Verify that the valve is fully open.
7. Initiate the closing command to close the valve.
8. Verify that the valve is in the closed position.
By following these steps, you can effectively operate cryogenic top-entry ball valves in manual and automatic modes. Proper valve operation is crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of the cryogenic application.
