For smaller cards such as MiniSD and MicroSD, an adapter is required:
Note that Secure Digital Input Output (SDIO) cards are not supported. Avoid inserting cards thicker than 2.1mm to prevent damage to the SD card slot.
Inserting an SD Card
When inserting an SD card, ensure that the metal contacts face down toward the computer. Do not force the media into the SD card slot, as this can cause damage.
Ejecting an SD Card
To safely eject an SD card, drag the card's icon to the Trash. Once the icon disappears from your desktop, you may remove the card from the slot.
Always ensure your Mac is awake and the SD card is properly ejected before removal to avoid any risk of data loss.
Troubleshooting Non-Mounting Cards
If your card fails to mount after insertion, try removing and reinserting it. The card may not mount correctly if inserted too slowly or too quickly.
If the card continues not to mount, you may need to reformat it.
Addressing 'Cannot Be Modified' Messages
If you encounter the message 'cannot be modified', it means the SD card may be locked.
To unlock, eject the card, remove it from the computer, and slide the lock tab to unlock it before reinserting. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for specific lock tab locations.
